Morphochem/Migragen collaboration sells Rho-kinase patent to Schering AG

Munich and Tuebingen, Germany, September 20, 2004.

Morphochem AG and the representatives for Migragen i.L. today announced that all rights from Morphochem and Migragen i.L. to a patent application covering novel Rho-kinase inhibitors and their applications have been sold to Schering AG, Germany (FSE: SCH, NYSE: SHR). The patent application also covers new uses for known compounds that were discovered using Morphochem’s technologies.

Financial terms of the collaboration were not disclosed.

The company perspektiv GmbH, Munich, Germany (www.perspektiv.de) has been assigned by the administrator, Gerhard Walter, Tuebingen, Germany, to commercialise the assets and was consulted by Dr. Lucio A.A. van Rooijen at van Rooijen & Partners (www.vr-p.com).
Migragen had focused on various facets of the Rho pathway, primarily in relation to spinal cord injury and other CNS diseases related to re- and degeneration. The assets include various patents by Migragen and with Morphochem, Garching Innovation at the Max Planck Institute and Yale University.
