100.000 Euros for growth companies: the STEP Award. <<
Infraserv Höchst (the site operator of the industrial park Frankfurt-Höchst) and the F.A.Z.-Institut (a subsidiary of the F.A.Z.) jointly created the STEP Award competition, which will be given out for the first time this year and which is geared towards growing businesses in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Companies in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, bio/nanotechnology, life sciences, and materials management can apply at www.step-award.de until September 1. To enter, competitors must be small or medium-sized companies with no more than EUR 40 million in annual sales and fewer than 250 employees. The companies may be moving from the R&D phase to the production phase for their product. The award-winners will enjoy all-round support: In addition to a cash prize of EUR 50.000, they will be granted a comprehensive service package worth the same amount. It will include services like patent search, technical workshop time, and strategy support. Award-winners will also be given access to business networks and infrastructure. The main sponsors of the initiative are Commerzbank, Mainova and Siemens. The award will be presented in December 2006 in Frankfurt, Germany.
