Dr. Georg Wischnath
Georg has a long-standing and broad experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries across large national, mid-size and start-up companies in various countries. He started his industrial career in 1976 at Schering AG where he held scientific, marketing and sales functions. Subsequently, he was marketing and scientific manager at Laboratoires Servier SA, Paris. Thereafter, at Albert Roussel GmbH he was marketing and scientific manager of various product groups. He has gathered broad scientific experience in cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, anti-inflammatory, immunological, anticancer drugs and antibiotics and succeeded with some by competitive positioning them in their markets. Following the merger with Marion and Rhone-Poulenc, he focused on acquisition and in-licensing of new technologies with broad applications in genomics and proteomics. In 2000 Georg became head of new business development at RiNA GmbH, Berlin. Here he initiated a collaboration with the Californian start-up company Fluorotronics, offering a new optoelectronic technology based on Raman spectroscopic principles for detecting carbon-halogen/-fluorine bonds in chemical and biological agents. Since 2002 he is VP Global Bio/Pharma at Fluorotronics Inc., San Diego, where he was involved in patent extensions, development of a business-plan, raising interests for collaborations and fund-raising.
Georg is a trained pharmacist (University of Berlin) and holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Genetics, Berlin.
